Our Short-Term Residential Facility in Marion, MT, offers comprehensive treatment for youth (ages 11–18) and their families, including individual, group, and family therapy, as well as experiential activities and academic support. 

 

As our Farm Coordinator, you’ll care for a variety of small animals, cultivate gardens, and play a key role in teaching hands-on skills to our clients. By weaving daily farm care with therapeutic, experiential programming, you’ll foster an environment where well-being and resilience can truly flourish. 

Responsibilities

  • Animal Care: Provide daily care and welfare for goats, chickens, and other miniature animals, including feeding, monitoring behavior, administering vaccinations, and addressing any health concerns. 

  • Teaching & Facilitation: Plan, lead, and facilitate therapeutic activities for adolescent clients (11–18), using animal handling and gardening as core experiential learning tools. 

  • Gardening Education: Teach and model proper animal handling, as well as essential gardening skills. 

  • Program Development: Collaborate with clinical and program departments to create and integrate enriching experiential opportunities for clients and their families. 

  • Budget & Inventory Management: Work within a set budget and manage all related supplies, tools, feed, and gardening materials. 

  • Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records for animals, supplies, and any other relevant program documentation. 

  • Documentation: Keep record of client daily progress notes  

  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work closely with clinicians and other staff to enhance and support overall treatment goals. 

  • Independent & Teamwork Focused: Operate autonomously while also in connection with the broader team, demonstrating creativity and a solutions-oriented mindset.

Qualifications

What do you bring to this position?

  • 21+ years of age or older  
  • High school diploma or equivalent G.E.D required
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen in concordance with Montana state laws 
  • Ability to pass federal and state background checks 
  • Current Montana driver's license or ability to obtain a Montana driver’s license upon hire
  • Previous personal or professional experience caring for small farm animals (e.g., goats, chickens, miniature animals). 
  • Gardening experience, with the ability to facilitate hands-on classes and activities for clients. 
  • Knowledge of small farm operations, including safe animal handling, environmental considerations, and familiarity with basic farm equipment.
  • Strong ability to plan and lead engaging, experiential activities in a behavioral health setting for clients and their families. 
  • Self-starter with the ability to make sound decisions independently.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and take direction as appropriate.  
  • Ability to work independently, with little to no supervision, and ability to make sound decisions. 
  • Desire for year-round employment.
