Salary: $50,000 to $55,000, depending on experience

Full-Time Schedule: 40 to 50 hours per week, with occasional evening hours and rotational on-call weekends

Location: 3205 N Twyman Rd, Independence, MO 64058 

 

Every day as a Residential Manager, you will lead a team of Youth Mentors (Behavioral Health Technicians) and Shift Supervisors to foster a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for our students. With your strong communication skills and people-first approach, you will oversee scheduling, safety, staff development, and the overall care and upkeep of the residential home, while collaborating closely with program directors to ensure smooth, effective operations.
 
At Embark Independence, we are dedicated to creating a secure and encouraging environment that supports real-life change for our students, ages 12-17. Our team works tirelessly to uncover the academic, social, and emotional potential of teenagers held back by behavioral challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support Residential Supervisors and Youth Mentors.
  • Hire, train, and onboard new residential staff as needed.
  • Provide regular one‑on‑one supervision and maintain supervision documentation.
  • Attend weekly Treatment Team Meetings and update Treatment Plans with student progress.
  • Train supervisors on Residential Treatment Plans and documentation expectations.
  • Oversee student schedules, program outings, and daily residential operations.
  • Support crisis management using trauma‑informed care and crisis intervention techniques; coordinate with therapeutic on‑call as needed.
  • Ensure timely, accurate completion of all shift documentation (logs, notes, incident reports).
  • Monitor safety metrics (AWOL, self‑harm, hospitalizations, early discharge) and collaborate across departments to reduce risk.
  • Ensure staff compliance with all required trainings (CPI, CPR/First Aid, Embark Treatment Approach).
  • Foster a therapeutic, values‑aligned environment that promotes student growth.
  • Perform other duties within scope as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Required:

    • Minimum 3 years' experience working with adolescents in therapeutic program(s).
    • Leadership experience managing direct reports.
    • 21+ years of age or older
    • Current driver's license
    • Ability to perform CPR and First-Aid.

    Preferred:

    • Leadership experience in a residential treatment setting.
    • Bachelor's Degree in psychology, social work or related field.
    • Skilled in de-escalations and managing crisis situations.
